Create a network of green roofs with vegetation to help improve air quality and reduce temperature in the city.

On roofs that are not suitable for the use of vegetation, install solar panels that meet the energy needs of city lighting and public buildings.

2026-03-18  •  No comments  •  Scott Boyd  •  City

The population is increasing in age and not all older people have places to go with specific help. Especially municipal day centres for Alzheimer's where professionals could help stimulate them to be less sad and alone at home.

Change all lighting to leds

Change all lighting to leds

2026-03-18  •  No comments  •  Scott Boyd  •  East district

Continue to change the lighting of the city, not only the low streetlights that have been changed recently, but also the higher streetlights, all the lighting of tunnels and roads and the lighting of public buildings, thus promoting greater savings that impact on energy expenditure (this money can be used for other initiatives) and simultaneously promoting a reduction in pollution that such energy savings entails. Part of the money can also be used to carry out a campaign to encourage the same change in private homes, providing incentives such as discounts on the purchase of such lighting systems.

At the same time, we could think of models of street lamps with solar panels in the same style as parking meters or some traffic signs, so that the savings would be greater or the energy generated could be sold to the electricity grid.

It is necessary to think about saving expenses as well as it has been carried out, in this way greater budgetary items can be destined for things that are worthwhile to the citizens.

Remodelling of the central square

2026-03-18  •  No comments  •  Joe Sanders  •  East district

The residents of the square want a reform of the square that makes it greener more colorful and more of all neighbors eradicating bad habits there. we also want the square to be more sustainable even placing triangular sails that provide shade in summer and water mist to cool the area. we also want more trees and cultural alternatives such as theater and puppets some solidarity market and even the possibility of giving a concert with unidirectional speakers. We are open to any suggestion or idea from any of the neighbors of the district.

Reading rooms: accessibility and wi-fi

2026-03-18  •  No comments  •  Doris Carroll  •  South district

The reading rooms are one of the few spaces, next to the libraries, where the youth of the district can study quietly and properly prepare their exams.

Recently some of them have been rehabilitated, but they need improvements both to allow access to their services to everyone and to facilitate the consultation of information and knowledge so necessary while a person studies. Therefore, we propose that in the four reading rooms:

To install elements that allow accessibility to people with reduced mobility, except in Cebreros due to the strong technical difficulties of carrying it out. Free wi-fi network coverage is available. We also propose the installation of accessibility elements for people with reduced mobility at the western entrance to the Cultural Centre.

Outdoor Dancefloors

2026-03-18  •  No comments  •  Joe Sanders  •  South district

Installation/construction of two dance floors (wooden floor) in the district

Technical aspects:

- Surface area of land to be built per track: 100 square meters

- Floor material: wooden platform resistant to exteriors (sliding materials to facilitate the dance and the care of the knees of lxs bailarinxs).

- Lighting point installation (Electrotechnics: Power supply, electricity): to be able to plug loudspeakers or other utensils.

Possible location within the park itself: The best site, for lighting, sonority (minimize possible impact to the rest of neighbors), shadows and location, would be in the area that now occupies the playground (more used, unfortunately, as a dog park) which would move this to another area of the park. (it is not essential and would be evaluated by the technicians of the council with a view to minimizing expenses and improving the idea).

The dance floor would in no case involve eliminating any of the existing trees, which means respecting them and/or integrating them into the design.

Justification of the location, ideas and positive aspects to take into account that support the investment:

- Dynamisation of public spaces with music and dance for all citizens.

- Intergenerational activities.

- New ways of living and building the public space, promoting neighborhood coexistence.

- Dancing as an alternative to healthy, social leisure, which helps to improve both physical and psychological fitness.

District International Blues Festival

District International Blues Festival

2026-03-18  •  No comments  •  Joe Sanders  •  South district

We believe that the city deserves an international Blues festival as it is held in other cities. The musical offer is wide and, especially in the months of spring to autumn, there are a lot of live music activities. However, Blues is in a position of inferiority to other musical styles, as it has enjoyed little institutional support for its promotion. That is why we are making this proposal, a Festival that will be free and will feature leading figures of national and international Blues.

Last year we had the opportunity to organize a Blues festival with musicians, which was developed with great success. This fact, together with the flourishing associative and cultural activity of the District in the last years, encourages us to propose this International Festival taking advantage of the existing municipal spaces.

Its realization could serve as a means to create in the district a cultural circuit with a stable cultural program, as it provides for the exploitation of synergies with other associations, seeking their participation and collaboration. The event will also have economic advantages for the District and for the city, as this type of event attracts fans, with the consequent increase in activity, especially in the services sector.

The Festival will include musical and children's activities, a conference, a documentary screening, a master class and an exhibition, with the aim of presenting a broad programme aimed at all audiences.
